Last day of July....

I hope all of you relished in this glorious summer day – the last of July. We spent most of the day in the back yard with an evening stroll to visit a friend for dinner. Even though summer is officially in full swing, on the way home tonight, I couldn’t help but feel the first chill of autumn as I picked up the first fallen leaf from the sidewalk. I can't tell if this is a sign of autumn or a wind-strewn leaf detached from a branch, but something felt different in the air.

Tomorrow, the calendar unfolds to the “back-to-school” month. (Remember, I worked at a college where the academic year starts in August not September!) This means we’ll see long sleeved clothing ads in the newspaper, catchy Target commercials with teens dancing in wool sweaters, and of course the seasonal isles at the grocery store will be stocked with spiral notebooks, folders and glue...

So happy August everyone……don’t be disappointed, we still have more hot days coming….but as you read this, take a closer look outside your window…..It’s fascinating to watch the seasons shift, especially in its early stages……see if you can find the first fallen leaf and pick it up.

On May 16, 2007, I received an e-mail from an old friend I hadn't heard from in several months-not sure why. I was hesitant to open it (again...not sure why) and with the hectic-ness that has become my life with 3 children, I forgot all about the e-mail. Tonight, finally cleaning out my in-box, I find and finally open the e-mail. Imagine my surprise to discover my old pal had a blog! Reading the postings brought be joy, and at times sadness of a friend lost. All this to say, "Great job Mish!" and I hope to hear from you again soon!
