Gypsy Kings blasting from my home office. Someone is in there working on projects...open paint involved. Better go check - okay, napkin placed on bed with wet paint brushes.
Alan further bonded with the children at the UU today and continues to make meaningful connections there. After services, we watched them chase each other around in the muddy yard. This did our hearts good.
Loafing on couch now. Dinner will be easy.

Feb 28th 7:30am
Enjoyed dinner with Eileen and Phil and the girls. Alan discovered a pretend trumpet in the girl's room. They played nicely together and put on a show after dinner. ALan is up extra early, and I had some trouble sleeping last night, so I am groggy as I write this, but the coffee is helping...Here are some additional funny things/questions said by Alan yesterday:
I wish I came out of your belly French.
How did Johnny Cash get killed?
Are dreams God?

Feb 27 2:18
Should have known better than to pitch the idea of going to Sesame Street Live to Alan....Luckily, within moments of that idea being shot down, we were invited to the Kamrass family residence for dinner!
We actually just came back from another snowy walk through the village...Alan and I discussed yesterday's incident at the book store, and wouldn't you know it...he was a much better listener this time around....progress!

Feb. 26 4:39pm
I decided it would be fun to make a list of all of the questions posed onto me by Alan today...(as of 4:32pm)
Do elphants live around here?
Are there any "live" angels?
Do angels wear necklaces?
Is God an angel?
Is Saraswati an angel?
Can grown-ups order kids around whenever they want?
Who was the one who couldn't hear and couldn't talk?
Is Helen Keller a "he" or a "she".
This one isn't a question, but was a comment that came out of no where: "I can make a cat face without a cat stencil."
We had our moments today....Alan was fresh, and I sent him to his room. Also, at the bookstore, he wasn't listening, so I abruptly cut short this visit. It was a complicated situation. He wanted to buy Bob a present, and I was trying to get his attention and listen. When we left the store, he was sooooo mad!!! He thought he was going "above and beyond" for wanting to get Bob a present. When he stopped crying, I explained how he hadn't been listening to me at the bookstore...ANYWAY....
But most of the day was enjoyable.....we continued our paper mache planet project (actually I popped the sun today!)....we went out for lunch, and played music...
In fact, we just finished a jam session - he kept switching instruments - first banjo (the one that Bob made for him), then guitar, concetina, drums and finally the piano. We played Oh Susanna, Bye Bye Ms. American Pie, a few blues tunes, then random compositions involving the solar system. He still is a little bossy when it comes to selecting songs, but he is sort of "getting" it. Practice!! His latest choices are our friend Rich Bala (Barefoot Boys), and Ray Charles....
We are all just hanging out now...the chicken wings were a hit with the boy, so I am taking advantage of this new food choice and just started baking some more... More cornbread, salad, etc.
More later (maybe)...

Feb 25 - wet and snowy
....A little tired about talking about the weather!! Again, I was up EXTRA early to assess the weather situation....Decided to leave for work EXTRA early - 6:45 AM before the weather became too treacherous. I stopped along the way to the bagel place and purchased enough bagels for everyone to enjoy (and more!)....I wanted to do something EXTRA for our staff who have been dealing not only with weather-related stress, but a computer upgrade which has backed us up a bit....
Then around 12:30, the snow was coming down EXTRA hard, and our office was getting many calls from loved ones urging them to go home. I packed up around 12:30 and headed over to pick up Alan...had lunch over at Roger's, then the weather turned to all rain, and there is SLUSH EVERYWHERE!
GOOD THING WE INVESTED IN A NEW ROOF!!!! That's all I can say!!!! OMG, I wonder how my old victorian on Washington avenue is doing...and my old basement too (probably flooded!!!!) While my current house is by no means my dream home, at least it is EXTRA warm and dry!!!
ANYWAY, Here is a cute visual for you. Alan and I are laying on the bed in my room next to each other with our laptops "working"...He has a purple laptop!!! He's playing some alphabet game. He just finished an orange popsicle....
LIFE IS GOOD!

feb 23 (i think)
...Woke up this morning unprepared for today's snow closing...I usually would stay home, but I needed to get some projects accomplished at the office. I literally made the final child care arrangement while walking to my office. Luckily, Bob could watch him, but he had a gig mid-day, so Jimmy and Miera watched him for a while...They are the best neighbors ON THE PLANET!
At work, I cleared my desk so I would be prepared to take off tomorrow as the snow is expected to continue....This juggling act stressed me out, so when I arrived home at 3pm, I took a hot shower, put on my PJ's, and now I am enjoying cinnamin raison toast and a cup of coffee (probably should be tea, right). I stopped by the store on the way home, so there is also a roast in the oven...yum.
I am ready for the snow!!!
