Christmas FUN!!!! December 14th

The holiday season doesn't get any more wholesome than caroling with the girl scouts at a senior residence...with hot chocolate and brownies...and with 7 boys all under the age of 7...and we live to tell about it!!! Alan was a bit of a handful, and was more interested in playing with his "one horse open siegh", but he said his favorite part of the afternoon was his friend "Ben-Ben", then quickly changed his mind to..."the brownie" ----

Voting for...

Alan and I went to vote together last night. I asked him who he wanted to vote for....He said that he wanted to vote for Pop-Pop. I told him that Pop-Pop was already the "King" (or was it the DUKE?) - and that he was next in line for that crown. In the meantime, I told him that he could pull the lever for Obama!!

Jammin

Alan has become quite the musician. I took him to jam in Kingston last week with some folk singer friends who gathered near the Senate House, and he played for them the "Rock-n-Roll ABCs" and "Happy Birthday." Here he is with my father, probably playing the BG's (oh no!)!! Well, at least he will be well-rounded musically! Please note how he made a microphone out of Tinker Toys!

Dinner with the Avallone crew

Enjoyed dinner tonight with the Avallone crew. I made "pulled pork", baked asparagus, mashed sweet potatoes, fresh beets and homemade cornbread. Yummy. The boys watched 101 Dalmations. After dinner Alan drew vaccum cleaners and Ivan drew a picture of his sister Olivia....I am told by the parents that tonight - at my house -that Olivia played with her first toy!!! I caught it on camera!!!

CORNBREAD - Made from scratch - I agree with the boys...the "corn cake" could have been more sweet...but it was still pretty tasty.

First Dentist Appointment

Alan did better than expected. All 20 teeth were accounted for...Dr. F said his teeth look, "Great!". I am relieved having spent the past three years implementing so many strategies to negotiate the tooth-brushing routine. Because he did so well, they tried to brush his teeth, but the sound of the electric tooth brush frightened him. He very appropriately said "That sound scares me. Please turn it off." I commended him for expressing his feelings so appropriately.

Alvin!!!!!!!! (Alan's first trip to the movie theatre!)

Alan and I had our first outing to the movie theatre today to see "Alvin and the Chipmunks." I prepared him by saying that we would be going to see a big screen TV. He thought I was saying "scream" and would follow suit.

Of course we were the first ones on line....I was so excited!

The night before we watched the trailors of the movie so he had an idea of what we were going to see. There was some discussion that maybe we shouldn't take him to a PG movie, but the child has already seen Shrek and thinks he's an ogre, so how bad could a movie be about chipmunks? I finally decided to go when Eileen said she was bringing Sophia. We met them there, and of course I brought my camera!

Alan made it through the whole movie. He made himself comfortable and wanted me to take off his shoes. He had the popcorn on his lap throughout most of the movie. (I think his favorite part of the experience).

All in all, a very memorable day (a very cheap date...tickets only $4.00 tickets!!!)

Testing 1-2-3 (Vrooom!)

Alan is standing next to two of his FAVORITE things in this world. A microphone and a vaccum. Plus, he is wearing his new favorite vacuum shirt, designed by our friend Melanie...(who he adores).... How good can it get?

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today we celebrated Valentine's Day by decorating cookies. To make things easier, we used the leftover "dirtcake" from the birthday party which resembles chocolate frosting as well as red and green Christmas sprinkles.

"Linda"

On the most gloomiest day of the year, "Linda" finally bloomed!! She is an Amaryllis. Emma brought her to live with us, and she has been sitting on our windowsill since Christmas, and now is almost as tall as Alan!

Alan wants Linda to sing, (we used to have a singing Linda) but I told him that she's a quiet plant. Instead, he decided to give her a hug.
